Totem Mite

This is an interesting one. Firstly, because these are my speakers. Secondly, they are pretty expensive; about $800 CAD for a pair. Ready? Here we go!

Frequency Response – Totem Mite

FR is pretty smooth across the range, except that it picks up a couple of dBs after 4.5Khz, which is noticeable but not annoying to me, but some people might find it a little harsh. I believe the hump between 4.5 to 9Khz gives it its unique tonal character. Note: the ripple in the response is most likely due to bad microphone placement.

Harmonic Distortion – Totem Mite

The harmonic distortion is respectably low. This is why I can listen to them all day with no ear fatigue.

Now, this is where this blog gets interesting, because now you can open this speakers’ HD (or FR) in a tab and some other speakers’ in another tab, and switch tabs to compare them side by side! and see what your money gets you for yourself.

  1. Very interesting review!!! I bought a pair last week, wich amplifier do you suggest for those speakers? I thought maybe a nad ( s26bee )will be a good choice…what do you think?

    • Thanks,
I have used them with a Harman Kardon’s HK3490, Trend Audio’s TA-10, a hand made discrete amplifier, and HLLY TAMP-20.
TA-10 was the best, and it had well enough power to drive these totems.
I have used TA-10 with both Mite and Arro with good results.
