Logitech Z-2300 Review
In this post I am going to take a look at Z-2300 which is a pretty popular speaker system from Logitech. Below are the technical specifications acquired from Logitech’s website.
Satellite Frequency Response* – Logitech Z-2300
The smooth frequency response backs up what they advertise about their drivers.
Satellite Harmonic Distortion – Logitech Z-2300
HD levels are pretty good above 200Hz which is about the cut off frequency of the satellite. The driver does not have much output below 200Hz, so the high HD is not a concern.
Overall, given the smooth FR and low levels of HD these are among the best desktop speaker satellites I have come across.
*Due to my testing conditions, frequency response measurements are not accurate below 200Hz

This is a really good read for me, Must admit that you are one of the best bloggers I ever saw. Thanks for posting this informative article.
Congratulations for posting such a useful blog. Your weblog is not only informative and also extremely artistic too. There usually are very few individuals who can write not so easy articles that creatively. Keep up the great writing !!
I had the pleasure of managing the computer audio division for a major retailer, and I whole-heartedly agree to the quality, power, and value of Logitech’s $150+ higher-end PC sets. We hooked the Z-2300 to our Projector Demos display facing the front of the store, and would draw customers from everywhere in the store, end-to-end. The two satellites seem to go as loud as your exstatic eardrums can tolerate. For those wanting the power, but need the flexibility customize their surround experience can ditch the Z-2300′s fixed-length speakers cable design, and get whatever 4.1 Z-Series Package, or “last-years” model they can find. The Z-2300 is not ‘New’ by any means, and the 4.1 Z’s use the same metal-tip in the cones; a great looking detail for people like me that prefer to remove the grills. I did just that, and ran the satellites to each corner of my 10×10 BR-turned-office.
This is precisely the kind of review I’m looking for. I was on the verge of buying the Bose Companion 3 Series II Speakers, which average $400 retail, but reading what you had to say about these speakers has, at this stage, made up my mind for me.
I do have one question though. I hear some people have complained about the mids. Others have used their equalizers to lower the bass to resolve the issue. I don’t plan on using these speakers to annoy my neighbours. It’s more for music than anything else, so would I be better off with the Bose, or these?
@Chris: It’s been a while since I reviewed these speakers, but from the FR and HD graphs I can’t imagine a scenario where Bose satellites out perform Logitech ones.
I don’t have a proper set up to measure sub performance properly, but the logitech sub is over exaggerating. I think logitech have tuned the subwoofer box like that on purpose to appeal to bass junkies. One way to alter the tuning of the box, is to shove a sock in the vent! I know it’s not very scientific! but it will turn your box to a sealed enclosure which has better transient response and is better suited for music.
Personally, I would choose the logitech, because higher distortion of the bose will give you ear fatigue especially for music. Bose also has that noticeable dip at the crossover between the sub and satellites.
@Sia,
Yes I realized the review was old, and there was a chance you wouldn’t be checking the posts, so thanks for responding. Your review, and subsequent reply to my post has changed my decision. The great thing is, it seems the logitech speakers are half the price of the Bose. I think once I adjust the equalizer (ie turn the base down), it should sound sweet. Or I will use a sock…:)
I read elsewhere that the overcranked base drowns out the mids. I do enjoy the odd game, however music is mainly what I listen to. My soundcard isn’t an expensive one by any stretch – SB Audigy 2 ZS. If you think I would benefit from something better, let me know.
Once again, thanks for responding. Now I need to hunt down these speakers down.
talk about great reviews.keep it up mate.and i hope you get to test the klipsch or the swan and other interesting speakers.it’s about time this costly or cheap speakers justify their price.
